People In My Neighborhood

"You know how I loves my U.S.P.S. friends! Charles and Tex (photos below) are my favorite Postal pals! In fact, Charles (who inspired the postman character in the e-book Love Me and the ex-pony express rider in The Touch of Sage) is a fabulous guy who draws a smiley face on the boxes my Amazon orders arrive in!

"Here they are!  My favorite Postal Pals...Charles and Tex!"

People In My Old Neighborhood

"The Postmen are two people in my neighborhood!"

"I will sorely miss Randy and Bill at the Ferndale USPO!  Talk about being pampered!  These two wonderful men have been nothing short of purely chivalrous during the time I've lived in Ferndale!

Randy coaches the local chess teams for the Ferndale schools and he and I play our own little version of 'Name That Tune,' as he prepares all my packages for me!  If you've ever received a package from me...chances are Randy weighed it in!  He's an angel and a dear friend.

Bill is the paintball champion of the universe!  He's always banged up and bleeding...as real men do!  The perfect Louisiana-born hero type, he told me just today (as he, Randy and I were discussing Saturday morning TV shows of the 1970's) that John Wayne died when he was in boot camp.  I totally understood his pain...being that Elvis died on my 12th birthday.  He's a sweetheart of a friend!"

"Ah, yes...here we are...Randy, me and Bill.  My own heroes of the US Postal Service.  I can't imagine what I'll do without them as Postmen and as friends!  They'll always be in the neighborhood of my heart, the darlings!"

"Ahhhh, sweet Nancy!  How I adore sweet Nancy!  Nancy works at the local drugstore and has the most delightful north-eastern accent!  She's like a breath of fresh air, always smiling and friendly, happy and beautiful!  AND she shares my passion for Hallmark Christmas ornaments!  I can't remember exactly how long ago it was that we bumped into each other at a July ornament premier at the local Hallmark store...but we've been fast fanatics together ever since!  We even discovered, by accident, that one of the little boys on one of the little basketball teams Kevin coached a few years ago, was Nancy's very own grandson!  Isn't she the mose beautiful lady?  I'm going to miss her more than she'll ever know!"

"The "nail" lady is a person in my neighborhood!"

"My thin, Thihn!  What will I ever do without Thihn?  Thihn is my "nail technician," and a kind, kind, compassionate friend!  Thihn moved to Ferndale from Vietnam with her husband only two years ago and she even brought me postcards back from her visit there this last Christmas!

Thihn is far and away the best nail technician I've ever met!  And not just because she gives me marvelous shoulder and back massages while my nails are drying!  She's an absolute sweetie...soft-spoken, careful and truly, truly kind.  I'm completely panicked about trying to find someone to replace her professionally and I know I'll never replace the piece she's taken out of my heart!  What a jewel!"

"Bankers are two people in my neighborhood!"

"Wade and Moriah!  My darlings at the bank!  Deposits, withdrawals, money orders and friendly smiles...that's what little Wade and Moriah are made of!

When Wade first started working at the bank, he was the tallest bank teller I'd ever known!  He had to put his little computer monitor up on a gift-wrapped box to raise it up!  With a dazzling smile and charming good looks...Wade was always a bright spot in my day.  He moved down a few hundred miles south for a while...and when he came back...he was a full-fledge banker with a king-sized desk!  I'm glad he came back...but now I'll miss him forever!

Moriah is a sweet, lovely, little angel!  Adorable and helpful I can always count on Moriah for a friendly smile and a lot of help!  I had to call her from Lagoon a Beach waterpark in Utah one afternoon last summer when I remembered I'd forgotten to make a money transfer.  Moriah took care of everything so I could enjoy sitting in my big ol' waterpark tube and float carelessly down the lazy river!  An angel!  She should have wings already!  I'll miss my Moriah!"
